GUY GILL — Washington State Patrol

A 54-year-old motorcyclist lost control of his Harley Davidson and went off the road in the eastbound lanes of state Route 512 at 94th Street near the South Hill Mall, according to the State Patrol.

The far right lane is blocked while paramedics tend to the man, who is from Tacoma. He suffered injuries to his face and leg, trooper Guy Gill said.

The accident was reported about 1 p.m. It's unknown what caused the motorcyclist to lose control but the State Patrol reported he wasn't wearing his helmet properly.

"At some point during the collision, his helmet came off," Gill said. It was found about 30 feet from where the motorcyclist landed.
