Most criminals dont choose a police station as the place to run while trying to evade arrest.
On Tuesday evening, a man with a federal drug warrant fled to the Fife Police Department when officers began chasing him outside a motel hed been staying.
U.S. Marshals deputies notified police Tuesday that a 50-year-old man theyd been searching for might be in the city. Police received information he was registered at a motel next door to the station and set up surveillance.
Officers approached the man as he tossed trash in the motel Dumpster. The man took off running and leaped over a 6-foot fence.
The problem was the fence he jumped over led into the driveway to the police station, Lt. Tom Thompson said. He was running right to the front door.
Officers from inside the station came outside and arrested the man.
