Cause undetermined in Gig Harbor house fire

Staff writerNovember 20, 2013

A Gig Harbor man returned home today to find bright orange flames dancing behind the windows of his front door.

He dashed into the garage and tried to get inside his house through the laundry room but was forced back by thick smoke. The man called 911, moved his vehicles out of the garage and waited.

Firefighters arrived about 12:25 p.m. to the two-story Trillium Park home and quickly extinguished the blaze. They then used a fan to ventilate the smoke, which caused damage to the house.

The man told investigators he left for about two hours to run errands and returned to see the fire.

A cause has not yet been determined.
