Man dead in Lakewood after Tacoma dispute

Tacoma News TribuneNovember 23, 2013

Tacoma police say a man suspected of shooting another man in east Tacoma early Saturday morning killed himself in a Lakewood apartment a few hours later.

The dead man was identified Saturday night by the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office as Taejuan Tymas, 31, of Lakewood.

The man who was shot earlier underwent surgery and is expected to survive, according to Tacoma Police Department spokeswoman Loretta Cool.

Cool said the incident began shortly after midnight with a report of a shooting in the 2000 block of East 56th Street. When police arrived, they found the wounded man and were told that the suspect had fled.

The suspect was located in a Lakewood apartment complex, Cool said, after the woman who lived there reported she left after the man arrived with a gun.

SWAT officers surrounded the complex and attempted to communicate but were unable to establish contact, Cool said. When officers entered the apartment, they found the man dead, she said, apparently of a self-inflicted gunshot.
