A Tacoma police officer fired a single round at a man after a pursuit that ended in Puyallup early this morning.
Police were first called about 2:45 a.m. by a woman who asked for protection from a 45-year-old man who was breaking out her car windows and deliberately ramming her vehicle in the 300 block of South 9th Street.
Responding officers saw the suspect drive away and tried to pull him over but he refused to stop. The man led police from multiple agencies on a pursuit that ended in Puyallup at 104th Street East and Fruitland Avenue East.
When the suspect vehicle stopped, he actually rammed several police vehicles, Tacoma police spokeswoman Loretta Cool said.
One Tacoma officer fired a single round at the man but did not strike him.
A police dog was used to arrest the man, who was booked into Pierce County Jail.
Tacoma police are investigating the initial assault complaint. Puyallup police will investigate the officer-involved shooting.
