Woodstick brings in about $14,000

Staff writerNovember 25, 2013

273 drummers turned out Sunday at Tacoma’s Emerald Queen Casino for the 2013 Woodstick Big Beat, coordinator Donn Bennett said Monday.

The event, in its 11th year, raised more than $14,000 to put musical instruments in local schools. Proceeds go to the Tacoma-Pierce County Crime Stoppers GROOVE Music for Youth program.

Last year, the Woodstick funds helped outfit the Orting High School drum line with a new set of gear, worth $15,000.
