Recap: Washington vs. Montana

Seattle, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - C.J. Wilcox scored a game-high 28 points as the Washington Huskies claimed an 83-79 win over the Montana Grizzlies in non-conference play at Alaska Airlines Arena.

Also scoring in double figures for the Huskies (3-3) were Nigel Williams-Goss and Perris Blackwell with 20 and 13 points, respectively. Williams-Goss also accounted for six assists, while Blackwell pulled down a game-high nine rebounds.

The Grizzlies (1-3) were led by Jordan Gregory who tallied 27 points, shooting 10-of-13 from the floor, including 6-of-8 from behind the 3-point line. Keron Deshields chipped in 20 points and Kareem Jamar 16 to go along with seven assists.

Montana shot a staggering 71.4 percent from the floor in the first half, including 9-of-15 on the perimeter, allowing the team to take a 42-36 lead at the break.

In the second half the Grizzlies continued to shoot the ball well from the floor (.516), but made just 2-of-8 beyond the arc and 3-of-7 at the free-throw line. Meanwhile, Washington converted 52.2 percent from the field and 19-of-25 at the charity stripe, en route to the four-point home win.

Montana, which was outscored at the free-throw line by a 24-6 margin, was also crushed on the glass, 34-14. The Griz logged just a single offensive rebound on the night.
