Authorities evacuate Kent residences, find Molotov cocktail in apartment of evicted tenant

Staff writerNovember 27, 2013

Authorities found at least one Molotov cocktail when they responded to a report of suspicious items in a Kent apartment Wednesday, according to Kent Fire.

Potentially threatening messages were found on the door of the unit of an evicted tenant about noon in the 1200 block of Weiland Street, Kent Fire Capt. Kyle Ohashi said.

The Port of Seattle Bomb Squad responded, and nearby residences were evacuated as a precaution until all hazardous materials were removed from the apartment.

The tenant is in jail on unrelated charges, Kent Fire said.
