Free and Sing-along Messiahs

The Tacoma Symphony Chorus and Orchestra will perform Handel’s “Messiah” on December 20, but you can get it for free – and even sing along yourself – at upcoming concerts this week. The South Sound Classical Choir will perform all 20 choruses from the beloved oratorio in free concerts at 3 p.m. Dec. 1 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 10510 136th St. E, Puyallup; 7:30 p.m. Dec. 6 at Puyallup United Methodist Church, 1919 W. Pioneer Ave., Puyallup; 3 p.m. Dec. 8  at Mason United Methodist Church, 2710 N. Madison St., Tacoma; and 7:30 p.m. Dec. 13 at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 2306 Milton Way, Milton. sscc.valleyartssociety.org. And for those who like to sing along, Christ Lutheran choir and orchestra presents its 20th annual Sing-Along Messiah, conducted this year by John Falskow. 2 p.m. Dec. 1 at Christ Lutheran Church, 8211 112th St. SW, Lakewood. Ice-skating and art at Tollefson Plaza

Franciscan Polar Plaza this weekend features the band Sweet Kiss Momma (7 p.m. Nov. 30) as well as ice skating and discounted entry to Tacoma Art Museum.
