A thief stealing packages left on the door step before Christmas: Been there, done that.

A thief who regifts a stolen package, apparently because he doesn’t like the contents: Not so much.

Bonney Lake police are seeking such a burglar in connection with the theft of several packages in the city over the past week.

Packages were taken from porches after being dropped off by various delivery carriers between Nov. 20 and Nov. 26, the department said Thursday.

Surveillance video of a possible suspect has been turned over to police. In the video, the suspect is seen placing what’s believed to be a stolen package on the front porch of another Bonney Lake residence. He’s believed to have disposed of the package because he “was not satisfied with the contents,” according to a police statement.

The statement describes the suspect as a white man in his mid- to late 30s with brown hair and a goatee. He was wearing a tan hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and brown shoes. In the video, he’s seen leaving the home in a gray, mid-90s Jeep Cherokee.

The suspect vehicle, along with a white female passenger, has been seen in the area of other reported package thefts, police said. They are asking residents to contact the department with any information about the suspect or the vehicle. Police can be reached at 253-863-2218.
