Point Defiance Zoo to host goat football showdown in honor of Seahawks

Staff writerNovember 28, 2013

The Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium will celebrate the 10-1 Seattle Seahawks’ record with an unusual Blue Friday event — goat football.

Visitors in Seahawks gear can get discounted admission to watch the Tacoma Seagoats face the New Orleans Knuckleheads – or small Nigerian goats and elder Nigerian goats, respectively — in the zoo’s Goat Bowl on Friday.

The matchup will kick off at 11 a.m. in the Kids’ Zone area of the zoo, complete with an announcer, cheerleaders and Kinder goat referees (and, yes, they will wear whistles and stripes).

The festivities will include the lighting of a Seahawks 12th Man tree as part of the Zoolights grand opening, among other home-team touches in several animal exhibits.

Admission is $3 off regular admission for visitors in Seahawks gear, and regularly priced otherwise. All daytime activities are free with zoo admission. For more information, visit pdza.org.
