Security exercise on Thursday could cause detours, impact services at JBLM

Staff writerDecember 4, 2013

The roads on Joint Base Lewis-McChord could be tricky to navigate Thursday because of an annual exercise that tests the base's police force and firefighters.

Drivers could find detours at certain times of the day. Some buildings could be placed under higher security restrictions and services could be disrupted, the Army said.

Residential areas near the vacant Heartwood Elementary School likely will have a significant presence of emergency vehicles during the drill.

Officials at Lewis-McChord plan to post updates about the exercise to the base’s Facebook page,

The exercise is not expected to impact traffic on Interstate 5.
