Lessons and Carols at UPS, Christ Church

Two different venues are holding the traditional English service of Lessons and Carols this Sunday in Tacoma. At the University of Puget Sound, the Adelphian Concert Choir offers carols and seasonal readings at 7 p.m. Dec. 8 in Kilworth Memorial Chapel (North 17th and Warner Streets, Tacoma). 253-879-3555, pugetsound.edu. At Christ Episcopal Church, the 47-strong choir combines with the Brombaugh organ for choir and congregational singing, with advent readings and organ solos like David Dahl’s “Variations on Dove of Peace.” 5 p.m. Dec. 8 at 310 N. Tacoma Symphony’s “Sounds of the Season”

The Tacoma Symphony joins with the Tacoma Youth Chorus and soprano Amy Mahoney for the annual “Sounds of the Season” concert, featuring carols, holiday tunes, symphonic, solo and choral works – this year in two concerts. 7:30 p.m. Dec. 7, 2:30 p.m. Dec. 8. $19-$65. Plenty of Santas at Seattle Men’s Chorus show

Ever seen 200 Santas all singing at once? The Seattle Men’s Chorus – largest gay men’s chorus in the world – fills the Pantages with its annual concert of holiday exuberance next Thursday: “Play It Again, Santa!” features irreverent skits, zany costumes and silly choreography, including more serious pieces. 8 p.m. Dec. 12. $44/$59. PLU sings “Hallelujah”

Pacific Lutheran University’s annual Christmas concert “Hallelujah!” runs this weekend and next. Three performances featuring Choir of the West, the University Chorale and University Symphony Orchestra include hymns, carols and other works. 8 p.m. Dec. 7 and 13, 3 p.m. Dec. 8. $30 general/$25 seniors, students, PLU community and alumni/free for under-12.
