Liquor board extends marijuana license deadline by 24 hours

Staff writerDecember 6, 2013

Give yourself an extra day if you’re thinking about applying for a marijuana business license.

The Washington State Liquor Control Board announced Friday that it will add 24 hours to the closing date of the 30-day marijuana licensing window. The closing date had been Dec. 19 at 5:00 p.m. The new closing date of the application window will be Dec. 20 at 5:00 p.m.

The move is necessary to conform to the rules’ effective date according to the state code reviser, the board said in a release Friday. The effective date of the rules was Nov. 21. Therefore, the 30-day application window will now close a day later than previously announced.

Published materials from the board and the State Department of Revenue now reflect the Dec. 20 closing date.
