Adventure sport show coming to Seattle next spring

New event hopes to attract more than 125 exhibitors

Staff reportDecember 8, 2013

The organizers of the Seattle Golf & Travel Show are bringing a new outdoors show to Seattle. The Northwest Outdoor Adventure Expo will run Feb. 28-March 2 at the Century Link Field Events Center.

Cascadia Events said it expects the outdoor expo will attract more than 125 exhibitors, including apparel, equipment and accessories manufacturers. It also will feature onsite adventures, including an indoor zip line, paddle pool and rock wall. There also will be panel discussions, slide shows, live music, and a beer-and-wine garden. A list of speakers and a schedule of seminars will not be available until February, according to the show’s website.

“We are very excited to provide a solution to the growing demand in the region for a premier outdoor adventure expo,” John Tipping, co-founder and event producer at Cascadia Events, said in a news release. “This show not only celebrates the natural beauty and majesty of the Pacific Northwest but, more importantly, it allows people to find a trail to their own adventure — whatever that might be.”

The show will focus on activities such as hang gliding, skydiving, skiing, wind surfing, rappelling, hiking, cycling and camping.

Tickets to the Northwest Outdoor Adventure Expo will be $14 for adults, $5 for children ages 13-17, and free for children 12 and younger. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Washington National Parks Fund. The fund supports programs at Mount Rainier, North Cascades and Olympic national parks.

The entry fee also includes complimentary entrance to the golf and travel show that will be running the same dates in an adjacent exhibition hall at the events center.
