OLYMPIA: State health care website stalls again

December 11, 2013

The website for the state’s health insurance exchange was out of service briefly Tuesday after days of disruptions.

A notice posted on the Washington Health Benefit Exchange website said an issue with a database caused the wahealthplanfinder.org to shut down for about an hour. As of 5:30 p.m., the site was operational.

Technical problems closed the website for four days last week. It resumed operations over the weekend, and then shut down again Monday morning. Monday’s problem involved the Department of Social and Health Services’ system that helps determine eligibility for free or reduced-cost insurance.

Washington residents have until Dec. 23 to sign up and pay for health insurance through the exchange if they want to be insured on Jan. 1.

Personal help will be available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at several Pierce County locations. For more information, call the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department at 253-798-6500.
