Cheney, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - Luke Nelson came off the bench to score 13 points as the UC Irvine Anteaters outlasted the Eastern Washington Eagles, 70-61, in a non-conference clash at Reese Court.

Nelson drained all five of his field goal attempts for UCI (6-5), including a pair from long distance. Will Davis added 12 points for the visitors, while Mamadou Ndiaye and Chris McNealy netted 10 points apiece.

For EWU (5-4), Tyler Harvey led all scorers with 15 points, although he shot just 4-of-15 from the field. Parker Kelly had 13 points, Drew Brandon tallied 12 points, eight rebounds and six assists, and Ognjen Miljkovic also scored 12 points.

Neither team shot greater than 40 percent from the field in the first half. EWU carried a 31-29 lead into intermission thanks in part to its 5-of-14 showing from 3-point range.

UCI took control of the game in the second half by making good on just shy of 60 percent of its field goal tries. The Eagles' percentage from the floor dipped to .306 after halftime.

The Anteaters committed a game-high 18 turnovers, but they also won the rebounding battle by a convincing 45-34 margin.
