Norfolk, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - Willis Hall paced all scorers with 14 points, as the College of Charleston Cougars outlasted the Old Dominion Monarchs in a low-scoring affair, 51-44, at the Ted Constant Convocation Center.
Anthony Thomas added 10 points of Charleston (5-6), which has won three of four.
For ODU (4-7), Aaron Bacote scored 13 points, while Dimitri Batten chipped in 10 points but on just 4-of-13 from the floor.
Charleston shot just 38.1 percent from the field in the first half, but ODU was even worse at 30.4 percent, as the Cougars carried a 23-18 lead into intermission.
The poor shooting continued after halftime, as neither side shot greater than 36 percent from the field. The Monarchs brought their deficit to just one with 9:03 to play on a Bacote 3-pointer, but they would never overtake the lead in the second half. Charleston shot 4-of-5 from the free-throw line in the final 27 seconds to help seal its fate.
ODU shot just 1-of-10 from beyond the arc and failed to get a single point from its bench.
