Tacoma to get 2 inches of snow for Friday morning commute ... maybe

Staff writerDecember 18, 2013

Meteorologists say it’s supposed to snow overnight Thursday and Friday morning around Tacoma, putting up to two inches on the ground and making for a slippery morning commute.

They think.

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm watch from 10 p.m. Thursday to 4 p.m. Friday, but where snow falls and how much of it depends on how strong winds from the south end up being, the agency said.

2 to 4 inches is expected to fall in Seattle and further north.

But if snow does accumulate, it won’t last for long.

A moist warm front will bring the snow, but when the air warms up, that precipitation should turn to rain by late Friday morning.
