For Auburn (5-3), KT Harrell added 14 points.
K.J. McDaniels led Clemson (8-3) with 18 points, while Rod Hall finished with 16 points and Jordan Roper scored 12.
Auburn shot 55.6 percent from the field in the first half, including 3-of-9 from 3-point range. Clemson shot only 43.3 percent but connected on 4-of-9 from beyond the arc. Auburn opened the contest on a 17-6 run but Clemson battled back, scoring the final four points of the period as the teams entered halftime tied at 34-34.
After intermission, Clemson hit on 45 percent from the floor but missed all four of its 3-point attempts. Auburn struggled as well, shooting only 39.3 percent from the field and 1-of-8 from 3-point range. With the score knotted at 62-62, Denson knocked one of two free-throws with 43 seconds remaining to put Auburn up for good, as it held on for the home win.
Auburn outscored Clemson in the paint, 36-26. Both squads took good care of the ball, with Auburn turning it over just 10 times and Clemson only seven.
