Essay contest offers scholarships for seniors

The Washington Consortium for the Liberal Arts has announced a scholarship essay contest for high school seniors.

The first-prize winner will receive a $3,000 scholarship to a Washington Consortium for the Liberal Arts school. Second prize is a $2,000 scholarship; third prize offers $1,000.

Schools in the consortium include the University of Washington, The Evergreen State College, Washington State University, Whitman College, South Puget Sound Community College and Eastern Washington University.

Information and submission details are online at collab.evergreen.edu/hsessay. The deadline for submissions is Jan. 31. Winners will be announced in March.
