A Federal Way man accused of driving drunk during a crash that killed a man late Monday night has been charged with vehicular homicide.
Jeffrey Waterfall, 56, drove a yellow 2003 Ford Mustang into a telephone pole in the 29000 block of Redondo Way South in Federal Way around 11:30 p.m., according to charges. The force of the impact caused the pole to be sheared off near the base. The pole remained standing, held up by power lines, according to a police report included in the charging documents.
Kurtis D. Nevin, 52, was killed in the crash, according to charging documents filed in King County Superior Court.
Waterfall was taken to Valley Medical Center to be evaluated. Testing at the hospital indicated that he had a blood-alcohol content of 0.232 percent, well above the legal limit of 0.08, according to the charges.
Federal Way police Officer Keith Pon, in his report, wrote that Waterfall had a DUI conviction in 1979.Jennifer Sullivan, The Seattle Times
