Recap: St Johns vs. Columbia

Brooklyn, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - D'Angelo Harrison scored 15 points as the St. John's Red Storm pulled out a 65-59 victory over the Columbia Lions during the Brooklyn Hoops Winter Festival at the Barclays Center.

Orlando Sanchez finished with 12 points and nine rebounds for St. John's (9-3) and JaKarr Sampson tacked on 11 points and blocked three shots.

Grant Mullins scored a game-high 17 points but had five turnovers as well for Columbia (7-6). Alex Rosenberg chipped in 13 points off the bench and Luke Petrasek tallied 12 points before fouling out.

In the first half St. John's shot an even 50 percent from the field, while Columbia was only able to sink 32.8 percent. The Red Storm took a 37-30 lead into the break.

After falling behind, 48-34, early in the first half, the Lions went on a 17-2 run to claim a 51-50 lead with 7:25 left in regulation. The Red Storm responded with a 9-0 run of their own over the next three and a half minutes to take back control and escape with the victory.

St. John's outscored Columbia in the paint, 36-20. The Lions had the edge in points from beyond the arc, 27-9.
