Pullman, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - Que Johnson led all scorers with 19 points, as the Washington State Cougars made easy work of the Mississippi Valley State Delta Demons, 85-48, in a non-conference clash at Beasley Coliseum.
Johnson shot 5-of-11 from 3-point range for WSU (7-5), which has won four of its last five games. Royce Woolridge tallied 16 points and six assists for the home team, while D.J. Shelton logged a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds.
No one scored in double figures for MVSU (3-8). Jeffrey Simmons netted nine points and James Currington posted eight points and seven rebounds.
WSU shot 43.8 percent from the field in the first half and carried a 32-22 lead into intermission. MVSU shot just 26.9 percent in the opening period but kept the game relatively close by going 7-of-10 at the foul line.
The Cougars pulled away in the second half by shooting a blistering 19-of-23 from the field (.826) over the final 20 minutes.
WSU dominated down low, earning a 44-30 rebounding advantage while outscoring MVSU in the paint, 48-18.
