What's open, closed on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day

Here is a list of scheduled operations and closures for New Year's Eve and New Year's Day:

• City of Tacoma buildings and services, including the landfill and recycling center, parking enforcement, senior centers and municipal court, are closed Wednesday. Police and fire crews will be on duty, and animal control officials will work from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m

• Pierce County offices will be closed Wednesday.

• The main Tacoma Public Library at 1102 Tacoma Ave. S. will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday. Branches will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Libraries will be closed Wednesday.

• Pierce County libraries will close at 6 p.m. Tuesday and will be closed all day Wednesday.

• Tacoma residents whose trash collection is normally scheduled for Wednesday, Thursday or Friday should expect a one-day delay.

• On Wednesday, Pierce Transit buses will run on a Sunday schedule.

• The Tacoma Link and Sound Transit bus routes 594, 545, 550, 522, 554, 560, 574, 577, 578, 512 will have Sunday service on Wednesday. There will be no service for routes 510, 590, 511, 532, 535, 540, 542, 555, 556, 566, 586, 592, 595, 513, 596, 567.
