Recap: William & Mary vs. Old Dominion

Williamsburg, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - Marcus Thornton poured in 26 points to lead the William & Mary Tribe to a 74-68 victory over the Old Dominion Monarchs in a non-conference clash at Kaplan Arena.

For William & Mary (7-5), Julian Boatner scored 14 points and Omar Prewitt chipped in 11 off the bench.

Aaron Bacote finished with a game-high 28 points for ODU (5-9), which has lost eight of its last nine. Dimitri Batten added 12 points and Richard Ross tacked on 10.

In the first half William & Mary shot 48 percent from the floor, including a 6-of-12 effort from beyond the arc, to claim a 35-26 lead at the break. ODU hit on just 42.3 percent of its field goal attempts.

After intermission the Monarchs improved to 56.3 percent shooting but a 16-3 scoring advantage from the free-throw line in the Tribe's favor allowed the home team to hold on for the win.

ODU dominated the interior, with a 36-12 scoring advantage in the paint. William & Mary outscored the Monarchs from 3-point range (33-15) and at the charity stripe (21-5).
