Stanford, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Richard Solomon notched a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds for the California Golden Bears, who edged out the Stanford Cardinal, 69-62, at Maples Pavilion in a Pac-12 Conference clash.

Solomon shot 4-of-9 from the field and 6-of-9 from the free-throw line for the Golden Bears (10-4, 1-0 Pac-12). Tyrone Wallace netted a game-high 20 points, shooting 6-of-13 from the floor. Justin Cobbs tallied 18 points and five assists.

Dwight Powell led the Cardinal (9-4, 0-1) with 16 points, hitting 6-of-10 from the field. Chasson Randle and Anthony Brown added 15 and 14 points, respectively.

The Cardinal shot 48 percent from the floor in the first half, but hit just 4- of-11 from the free-throw line. The Golden Bears shot 44.8 percent from the field, but this included 5-of-9 from beyond the arc, good for a 37-31 halftime lead.

Both teams struggled to match their earlier offensive presence in the second half, with the Bears shooting 39.3 percent from the field, slightly better than 36.4 percent on the Cardinal's side. The bigger difference was at the line, where the Bears hit 10-of-15 and the Cardinal just 6-of-9. The Cardinal led by two points with 5:17 left, but a Cobbs layup just under two minutes later erased that short-lived lead for good.

In the tight game, neither side led by more than eight points, and the lead changed on six occasions.
