Recap: Rice vs. Harvard

Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Wesley Saunders scored 18 points as the Harvard Crimson delivered a 69-54 win over the Rice Owls in non-conference play at Tudor Fieldhouse.

Also scoring in double figures for Harvard (13-1) were Brandyn Curry with 16 points in just 19 minutes off the bench, followed by Kyle Casey and Jonah Travis with 14 and 10 points, respectively, as the Crimson extended their win streak to nine in a row.

The Owls (5-8), losers of three straight, were paced by Keith Washington with 11 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the floor.

Harvard scored the first points of the night and never looked back, shooting 50 percent from the floor in the first half in order to claim a 36-30 advantage at the break. The Crimson made just 1-of-4 beyond the arc through the first 20 minutes, but made up for it with an 11-2 advantage at the free- throw line.

In the second half Rice made a total of only seven field goals, allowing the visitors to cruise to the win.

In addition to outscoring the Owls at the charity stripe, 21-10, Harvard also produced a 37-21 advantage on the glass.
