Also scoring in double figures for the Bears (8-3, 2-0 Big Sky) was Jordan Wilson with 10 points, while Tevin Svihovec, Dominique Lee and Tate Unruh all tallied nine points as the team won for the sixth time in seven tries.
The Thunderbirds (1-10, 0-2), losers of 10 straight since opening the season with a victory over Arizona Christian, were paced by Eric Rippetoe with 10 points in 11 minutes off the bench.
UNC knocked down an impressive 60 percent from the floor in the first half, compared to a mere 33.3 percent for the visitors, leading to a 39-25 advantage at the break.
In the second half the Bears jumped to 64.0 percent accuracy, not to mention 16-of-19 at the free-throw line, pushing the team to a commanding win at home.
