The Citadel (4-13) at Elon (8-8)

GAME NOTES: The Elon Phoenix look to continue their recent dominance over the Citadel Bulldogs when the two teams collide for a Southern Conference clash at Alumni Gym.

Elon holds a 13-4 lead in the all-time series and has won each of the last five meetings.

Elon is looking to build on Monday's 75-66 triumph over Appalachian State in its SoCon home opener. The Phoenix have won six of seven in their home building so far this season. Following this tilt, they'll travel to Davidson on Thursday and then return home to face 19th-ranked UMass next weekend in what will be Elon's first home game in Alumni Gym against a nationally ranked team.

The Citadel is winless in 10 tries outside of Charleston, South Carolina this season. Then again, the Bulldogs have not found much success at home as they enter this contest with losses in five straight and nine of their last 10 games overall. Most recently, they succumbed to Wofford in overtime on Thursday night in Spartanburg, 79-75.

The Citadel put up a good fight at Wofford, shooting a healthy 55 percent from the floor in addition to knocking down 10-of-16 3-pointers. It marked the fourth time this season the Bulldogs made 10 or more threes in a game. However, the Terriers did a better job cleaning up the boards to the tune of a 39-25 rebounding advantage, and they were able to make clutch baskets in overtime. For the Citadel, the loss spoiled a solid effort from guard Matt Van Scyoc, who tallied a team-high 22 points and seven rebounds and was nearly perfect from beyond the arc (6-of-7). It was Van Scyoc's fourth 20-point game of the season as he leads the team with 14.8 ppg. Ashton Moore (11.0 ppg) was next in line with 19 points to go along with six assists, followed by Quinton Marshall with 17 points and six boards.

Elon can also inflict some damage from the perimeter as it currently tops the conference in 3-point field goal percentage (.404) and is second in threes made (138). Sebastian Koch (47) and Tanner Samson (46) rank first and second in the league in the latter category, while Samson is fifth in the league in 3-point percentage. Down low, Lucas Troutman leads the way with a team-best 15.1 points and 6.0 rebounds per tilt. The Phoenix were up by as many as 20 against Appalachian State, but the Mountaineers rallied to make it a six-point game in the final minute. Elon was able to make free throws down the stretch to seal the outcome. Ryley Beaumont had a team-high 16 points, while Ryan Winters finished with a career-high 14.

Elon has had the upper hand in this head-to-head series of late, while the Bulldogs have yet to have the upper hand on anybody when playing on the road this season.
