Recap: Pittsburgh vs. Wake Forest

Pittsburgh, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Lamar Patterson led all scorers with 27 points, and the Pittsburgh Panthers upended the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, 80-65, in Atlantic Coast Conference play at the Petersen Events Center.

Talib Zanna recorded a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds to go along with four blocks. Durand Johnson added 11 points off the bench to help the Panthers (15-1, 3-0 ACC) to their fifth consecutive victory and 13th straight at home.

Devin Thomas led the way with 17 points and nine boards for the Demon Deacons (11-5, 1-2), who have dropped three of their last four games after a 10-2 start. Codi Miller-McIntyre and Coron Williams scored 10 apiece in the loss.

Pitt jumped out to an 8-1 lead, and later closed the first half on a 12-4 run to turn a six-point lead into a 40-26 cushion at the break.

The Panthers maintained a double-digit margin throughout the second half despite Wake Forest shooting a healthy 54.2 percent from the floor over the final 20 minutes. Pitt led by as many as 22 in the final minutes before eventually closing out the victory in the first-ever meeting between these two teams.

Pitt held a key 38-28 rebounding advantage to stay unbeaten during league play in its first season as an ACC member.
