Lacey police detectives are investigating the death of a man whose body was found early Sunday at a popular Lacey park.

About 8:30 a.m. Sunday, police officers responded to a report of a man possibly deceased at Rainier Vista Community Park, a 46-acre site in the 5400 block of 45th Avenue Southeast, just off Ruddell Road. Officers arrived to find the body of man on the west side of the park in a soccer field.

Commander Jim Mack of the Lacey Police Department said they’re treating the death as suspicious until they get more information.

The man is thought to be in his 30s or 40s, he said.

Thurston County Coroner Gary Warnock said the man was still unidentified as of 3 p.m. Sunday. He said fingerprints were being checked and that an autopsy was scheduled for Monday morning. The body had no physical signs of trauma, he said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Lacey Police Department detectives at 360-459-4333, or Olympia/Thurston County Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
