Anthony, Cousins earn NBA Players of the Week

New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony and Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins have been named the NBA Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for the period ending Jan. 12.

Anthony led the Knicks to wins over Detroit, Miami, and Philadelphia during the span. He ranked second in the conference in scoring (27 ppg) and steals (2.33 spg) and third in minutes (39.2 mpg).

Anthony's noteworthy performance came Jan. 9 in a 102-92 win over the defending champion Miami Heat when the sharpshooter converted 12-of-24 field goal attempts en route to 29 points to go along with eight rebounds and five assists.

Cousins was an integral part in the Kings' 3-0 week, posting a point-rebound double-double in each contest. He ranked seventh in the conference in points (25.0 ppg), second in rebounding (12.7 rpg) and eighth in minutes (37.2 mpg).

Cousins spearheaded a 123-119 win Jan. 7 over the Portland Trail Blazers with 35 points and 13 rebounds.
