Spanaway man identified as driver who died in rollover near Summit

Staff writerJanuary 14, 2014

A Spanaway man died Tuesday after his 2013 Kia hit a power pole near Summit, the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department said.

The man was identified as 83-year-old George Ferderer by the Medical Examiner’s Office.

It had not yet been determined how he died.

Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said it appeared the man may have had a medical issue prior to hitting the pole and rolling his vehicle.

No one else was injured in the crash, which happened about 11 a.m. at 112th Street East and Canyon Road East.

The man had no passengers.
