Foul play not suspected in death of man found at vacant business on Martin Way

Staff writerJanuary 16, 2014

Foul play is not suspected in the death of a man who was discovered about 8 a.m. Thursday in a restroom of a vacant business located in the 7100 block of Martin Way and Hensley Street NE.

The deceased man was identified Thursday as a transient 54-year-old from the Olympia area, Thurston County Sheriff's Lt. Greg Elwin said. There were no obvious signs of trauma, but drug paraphernalia was found at the scene, Elwin added.

A maintenance worker in the strip mall discovered the man's body Thursday morning and called 911.

Sheriff's detectives had contacted the owner of the property Thursday morning. The vacant business where the man's body was found is the former site of Anytime Fitness.

Detectives were trying to determine how the man had entered the vacant business.

Thurston County Coroner Gary Warnock said Thursday that he could not release the deceased man's name because his next of kin had not been notified.
