Recap: Idaho State vs. Southern Utah

Pocatello, ID (SportsNetwork.com) - Andre Hatchett tallied 17 points and six rebounds as the Idaho State Bengals downed the Southern Utah Thunderbirds, 60-45, in a Big Sky Conference bout at Holt Arena.

Chris Hansen scored 13 points for the Bengals (6-8, 3-2 Big Sky) while Tomas Sanchez contributed 11 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Jeffrey Solarin posted eight points and 13 boards to help ISU snap a two-game losing streak.

Trey Kennedy led SUU (1-13, 0-5) with 11 points. Although 10 different Thunderbirds contributed in the scoring column, Kennedy was the only player on the squad to score in double-figures.

SUU went into the intermission trailing, 28-24, after it made 47.6 percent of its shots from the floor in the first half. The Bengals connected on 47.8 percent of their field goal attempts before halftime to build their advantage on the scoreboard.

ISU went just 7-of-27 from the floor in the second period, but managed to pull away by converting 16-of-26 attempts at the free-throw line. The Thunderbirds cooled off to hit on only 25 percent of their field goal attempts after the break.

The Bengals outscored the visitors, 26-16, in the paint and held a dominant, 46-27, edge in the rebounding battle.
