Recap: Cal Poly vs. CS-Northridge

San Luis Obispo, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Dave Nwaba scored 10 of his 16 points at the charity stripe as the Cal Poly Mustangs defeated the Cal State Northridge Matadors, 62-52, in a Big West Conference matchup at the Mott Athletics Center.

Kyle Odister added 14 points for Cal Poly (7-9, 3-0 BWC) as it picked up its third win in a row. Chris Eversley chipped in nine points and nine rebounds while Jamal Johnson tallied nine points and six assists.

The Matadors (10-8, 2-1) were led by Stephan Hicks, who netted 16 points with the help of a 10-of-12 performance at the free-throw line. Tre Hale-Edmerson contributed 12 points, eight rebounds and three steals. Josh Greene scored 10 points in CSUN's first conference loss of the campaign.

The Mustangs took a 23-20 lead into the intermission after they hit on only 36 percent of their field goal attempts in the first half. CSUN connected on just 23.8 percent of its shots from the floor in the opening period, but stayed close by converting 10-of-13 tries at the free-throw line.

The Matadors missed all six of their tries from 3-point range in the second half. Cal Poly knocked down 6-of-12 shots from beyond the arc to pull away for the double-digit win.

The Mustangs enjoyed a narrow, 32-30, edge in the rebounding battle and assisted 15 of their 19 makes from the floor in the contest.
