Berkeley, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Justin Cobbs tallied 16 points, seven assists and five rebounds as the California Golden Bears completed a 76-55 rout of the Washington State Cougars in a Pac-12 Conference matchup at Haas Pavilion.
Tyrone Wallace added 13 points, four assists and four steals for California (14-4, 5-0 Pac-12), which improved to 10-0 at home with the win. Richard Solomon scored 12 points, grabbed nine rebounds and blocked three shots.
For the Cougars (8-10, 1-5), Que Johnson netted 18 points while D.J. Shelton registered a double-double with 17 points and 11 boards. The loss was the fifth in six games for WSU.
The Cougars kept it close in the first half and went into the intermission trailing, 34-33, after they hit on 40 percent of their field goal attempts including 4-of-7 from 3-point range in the opening period. California knocked down 46.4 percent of its shots from the floor in the first half.
The Golden Bears heated up to convert 69.6 percent of their field goal attempts in the second stanza. WSU was limited to 27.3 percent efficiency from the floor and outscored, 42-22, after halftime.
Despite the loss, the Cougars held a 31-25 edge in the rebounding battle.
