Man hit, killed by train in Auburn

Staff writerJanuary 18, 2014

A 42-year-old man from Las Vegas was killed on Saturday after being struck by a passenger train in Auburn.

The incident occurred around 3:40 p.m. in the 900 block of C Street Southwest, according to a news release from Auburn Police Department.

The man’s female friend was taking pictures of him on the rails when an Amtrak train approached, the release says. The man was unable to get off the tracks.

A KIRO-TV report said the railway was closed to investigate the incident. None of the 130 people on board the train, which was coming from Portland and heading to Seattle, were injured. They were loaded onto buses following the incident, according to KIRO.
