Phillies sign P Gaudin to minor league contract

Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Philadelphia Phillies have signed Chad Gaudin to a minor league contract and invited the veteran pitcher to spring training.

Gaudin, 30, was 5-2 with a 3.06 earned run average in 30 games (12 starts) for the San Francisco Giants last year. He was placed on the disabled list in mid- August with carpal tunnel syndrome, ending his season.

The right-hander has compiled a 45-44 record with a 4.44 ERA in 344 games, including 87 starts, for Tampa Bay, Toronto, Oakland, the Chicago Cubs, San Diego, the New York Yankees, Washington, Miami and San Francisco.
