Police investigate fatal shooting in Lacey

Staff writerJanuary 22, 2014

Lacey police were seeking suspect information Wednesday night after the fatal shooting of a 34-year-old man in a car at the College Glen Apartments about 5 p.m., Lacey Police Cmdr. Jim Mack said.

The location of the College Glen Apartments is 4870 55th Lane SE in Lacey. The scene is near the intersection of College Street and Yelm Highway.

A large number of police officers were at the scene Wednesday night. Mack said detectives were interviewing people who live at the apartments, trying to learn what had happened.

Lacey police officers who responded to the scene of the shooting pulled the victim out of the car and tried to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, Mack said.

Mack declined to speculate on a possible motive for the shooting about 7 p.m. Wednesday, and said detectives were still in the early process of gathering information. Mack also did not release any information about a possible suspect, or whether he may have fled in a vehicle or on foot.

College Street was blocked to traffic at the roundabout at the College Point Apartments Wednesday night, causing delays for commuters.
