Tacoma man arrested in Pullman, Ellensburg blow dart assaults

Staff writerJanuary 22, 2014

Police arrested a Tacoma man Wednesday suspected in two separate blow dart assaults in Pullman and three in Ellensburg.

The 18-year-old allegedly shot a dart that pierced through two layers of clothing and stuck a 1/2 inch into the stomach of a 20-year-old woman Jan. 12, as she was standing on a Pullman sidewalk.

The woman didn’t require medical treatment.

A matching dart stuck a man Jan. 14 as he was walking in Pullman.

Detectives learned Ellensburg police had three similar blow dart assaults Jan. 12, and publicized surveillance footage from those assaults led to a tip that helped identify the suspect.

Authorities arrested the man in Ellensburg.

The News Tribune does not generally name suspects of crimes unless they have been formally charged.
