Car strikes, kills man on Puyallup street

A 60-year-old man was fatally injured Saturday night when he was struck by a car in Puyallup, police said.

The man was attempting to cross in the 600 block of 39th Avenue Southwest when he was struck by a car driven by an 18-year-old woman, Puyallup Police Chief Bryan Jeter said. The man attempted to cross the four-lane road outside of a crosswalk around 6:20 p.m., Jeter said.

The man was pronounced dead at Tacoma General Hospital.
