Montana State to host seven in 2014

Bozeman, MT (SportsNetwork.com) - Montana State will open the 2014 season at Arkansas State and host rival Eastern Washington in a non-conference game as part of a 12-game schedule announced Monday.

The Aug. 30 game at Arkansas State, the two-time defending GoDaddy.com Bowl champion, marks Montana State's first trip to Jonesboro since 1961.

The Sept. 20 game against Eastern Washington is not part of the Big Sky schedule and leads into the Bobcats' eight-game conference schedule.

"This is a schedule that our fans will love," said eighth-year coach Rob Ash, whose team is coming off a 7-5 season. "It's certainly difficult, but features a strong regional flavor and a number of long-time rivals."

Montana State also will host Black Hills State (Sept. 6) and Central Arkansas (Sept. 13) in non-conference action.

The Bobcats will play seven home games, including Big Sky action against North Dakota (Sept. 27) to wrap up a four-game homestand on Homecoming Day, and Weber State (Oct. 18), Portland State (Nov. 8) and Idaho State (Nov. 15).

In conference road games, Montana State will go to Sacramento State (Oct. 4), UC Davis (Oct. 11), Cal Poly (Nov. 1) and rival Montana (Nov. 22).
