Downtown Tacoma's Wells Fargo bank moving out of Wells Fargo Plaza

Tacoma News TribuneJanuary 29, 2014

Todd Matthews over at the Tacoma Daily Index reports that the Wells Fargo bank branch in downtown Tacoma is moving out of the building that bears its name.

While people in the know wouldn't give him details, Matthews finds online documents that show the move from Wells Fargo Plaza, at 1201 Pacific Ave., to 1001 Pacific Ave. -- retail space that used to be home to Vinum Coffee and Wine Lounge.

A Wells Fargo spokesman told Matthews details would be available next week. Unico Properties, which owns Wells Fargo Plaza, said the building would keep its name even if the bank is elsewhere.

Wells Fargo Plaza is downtown's first modern high-rise, built 43 years ago. It's unclear what will go in the mezzanine space where the bank branch currently operates.
