Tacoma workshop slated to discuss ethics, responsibilities at nonprofits

Staff writerJanuary 29, 2014

Executives at nonprofits, take note.

On Tuesday, Feb 12, the Secretary of State’s Corporations and Charities Division will host  a workshop on fundraising for charities and nonprofits.

The event will be held at the Tacoma Rhodes Center, 949 Market St., from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with lunch provided.

Said Teresa Glidden, education coordinator for the division, “This workshop isn’t a ‘how-to’ for fundraising events, but will explore deeper into the responsibilities and ethics of fundraising for charitable and nonprofit organizations.”

The featured speaker at the workshop will be Dr. Stuart Grover, chair emeritus of The Collins Group and chair of the Secretary of State’s Charity Advisory Council. Grover is expected to share more than 30 years of experience as a fundraising consultant, according to a release.

There is a $10 per-person lunch charge to help defray the costs of the facility and catering. Registrants can pay online when they register by credit or debit card. Registration is limited and available online at www.sos.wa.gov/charities/training.

For more information, contact Teresa Glidden at 360-725-0373 or teresa.glidden@sos.wa.gov.
