Baton Rouge, LA (SportsNetwork.com) - Johnny O'Bryant III scored 23 points and came up one rebound shy of a double-double as the LSU Tigers defeated the Arkansas Razorbacks, 88-74, in Southeastern Conference action at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
Jordan Mickey recorded a double-double for LSU (14-6, 5-3 SEC) with 22 points and 11 boards. Jarrell Martin scored 15 points, Andre Stringer netted 10 points and Anthony Hickey dished out six of the Tigers' 22 assists.
Rashad Madden paced the Razorbacks (13-8, 2-6) with 17 points. Bobby Portis and Kikko Haydar contributed 15 points apiece and Coty Clarke chimed in with 10 points. Arkansas played without Michael Qualls and Alandise Harris, who were both suspended indefinitely by coach Mike Anderson for conduct detrimental to the team.
LSU took a 40-25 lead into the intermission after it shot 47.3 percent from the floor and outrebounded the visitors, 25-17, in the opening period. The Razorbacks were limited to 25.8 percent efficiency from the field in the first half.
Arkansas improved to knock down 39.4 percent of its field goal attempts and converted 18-of-19 tries at the free-throw line in the second stanza. The Tigers' lead was never in doubt as they drained 64.3 percent of their shots from the floor including 3-of-5 from 3-point range after the break.
LSU outscored the Razorbacks, 48-24, in the paint and assisted 22 of its 35 makes from the floor. Arkansas had just seven assists against 10 turnovers.
