Laramie, WY (SportsNetwork.com) - Led by 19 points from Josh Adams, the Wyoming Cowboys took down the Utah State Aggies, 74-57, in Mountain West Conference play at Arena-Auditorium.
For the Cowboys (14-7, 5-3 MWC), Riley Grabau added 15 points, Larry Nance Jr. finished with 13 points and Derek Cooke Jr. chipped in with 11 points and eight boards.
Spencer Butterfield led the Aggies (12-9, 2-7) with 12 points and Preston Medlin scored 11.
Wyoming shot the ball well to open the contest, connecting on 55 percent of its field goal tries, including 4-of-7 from 3-point range, as the Cowboys held a 35-28 lead at the break. Utah State shot 40 percent from the field in the half and 4-of-8 from beyond the arc.
The Cowboys continued their sharp shooting after halftime, as they drained 52 percent of their field goals and 4-of-7 from deep. The Aggies shot 40.7 percent from the floor, making 3-of-10 from beyond the arc. Leading by nine, the Cowboys used a 13-3 run midway through the half to pull away for the victory.
Wyoming had the edge in the paint, outscoring Utah State 22-16, and from the free-throw line, 18-8. The Aggies were able to pull down 12 offensive rebounds and convert them into 15 second chance points.
