Apex Cellars 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon

Appellation: Columbia Valley

A lineup of stellar vineyards that includes Alder Ridge (Horse Heaven Hills), Dionysus (Columbia Valley), Elephant Mountain (Yakima Valley) and Taylor Mag (Red Mountain) makes for an utterly stunningly and classic Cabernet Sauvignon from Apex Cellars. This latest head-turning bottling from winemaker Ron Bunnell opens with easy-to-embrace aromas of black cherry, cassis and milk chocolate with a nice bell pepper note tucked up in the back. The drink continues that same theme with cordial cherry filling leading into a super rich midpalate. There are no bumps or no edges as it carries just the right amount of grip. Rated "Outstanding" by Great Northwest Wine. (14.5 percent alcohol)

Price: $33

Cases produced: 682

Food pairings: Grilled or braised meats, lasagna or a hearty winter stew will all pair beautifully with this magnificent red wine.
