TACOMA, Wash. — Seismologists say a minor earthquake has occurred near Tacoma.
The Pacific Northwest Seismic Network said the 3.0-magnitude earthquake struck around 12:30 p.m. on Monday. The earthquake around Federal Way was relatively deep — about 15 miles down.
John Vidale is the director of the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network at the University of Washington. He says a few dozen people reported feeling the quake but that a temblor at that magnitude and that depth typically won't hurt anything.
